SOS! The Salton Sea Walk

is a film project documenting community activist Randy Brown, who set out to do something no one had ever attempted — walk the entire shoreline of California’s largest lake, the Salton Sea.

In June of 2015, with temperatures reaching 120 degrees, Brown set out on the 6 day, 115 mile journey. His mission — to raise awareness for the sea, a forgotten place of extraordinary beauty and life, silently threatening to make itself known once again.

Beginning in 2018, the largest rural to urban water transfer will begin to expose tens of thousands of acres of dried lakebed and kill countless animals. The exposed dusty “playa”, containing 100 years worth of farm chemicals, would become airborne, sending billowing clouds of choking dust towards major population centers in the Southwest…

Will people be inspired to save it before it’s too late?
